Russell Huie, Ph.D.

Research Scientist and Biostatistician

Dr. Huie is a researcher in the UCSF Department of Neurosurgery who also served as a biostatistician for the Richards Lab. Dr. Huie is experienced in the analysis of sleep, cognition, and neurophysiology data for both human laboratory studies and big data studies.

 

Jen Kanady, Ph.D. 

Scientific Collaborator

Dr. Kanady is a former post-doc in the Stress and Health Research Program, and scientific collaborator of Dr. Richards and other investigators in the Stress and Health Research Program. Her collaboration with Dr. Richards focused on analyses of large-scale data on sleep and cognitive performance.

Samantha Hubachek

Samantha graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley in 2015, and was a research coordinator for the Richards Lab. She coordinated the NAPS Study. After her time in the Richards Lab, she went on to graduate school in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program at the University of Maryland in the Child Stress and Emotions Lab (CSEL).

 

Cassandra Dukes

Cassandra graduated from The University of Oregon with a B.S. in Psychology and was a research coordinator for the Richards Lab. She coordinated the NAPS Study. After her time in the Richards Lab, she went on to graduate school in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program at Western Michigan University, studying childhood trauma and psychopathology. 

 

Andrew Levihn-Coon

Andrew graduated from Claremont McKenna College in 2015 with a B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy. He was a research coordinator for the Richards Lab on the REST Study. After the Richards Lab, Andrew went on to graduate school in the Clinical Psychology doctoral program at the University of Texas at Austin.

 

Katie Huang

Katie received her B.A. in Psychology from UC Berkeley and was a senior research assistant in the Richards Lab, working on both the REST and NAPS studies. Katie is interested in studying risk and resilience factors in the development of anxiety disorders and depression, as well as the integration of cultural competence into mental health care. She plans to continue working in the mental health field.

 

Sara Rama

Sara graduated from Wellesley College in 2016. She was a research assistant and sleep technician for the NAPS, REST and REST MoRe studies. Sara continues to work in the Stress and Health Research Program with Dr. Laura Straus.

 

Jean Ye

Jean served as a research assistant for the NAPS study and research pre-doctoral fellow in the Richards Lab while completing her bachelor's degree in psychology at UC Berkeley. After graduating from college, she transitioned to a research fellowship at NIMH.

 

Nikhila Udupa

Nikhila received her B.A. in Psychology and Neurobiology from UC Berkeley. At the Richards Lab, she was a Study Coordinator for the DDREAMS study, and previously volunteered on the REST and NAPS studies. After her time in the Richards Lab, Nikhila went on to graduate school at Florida State University's doctoral program in Clinical Psychology.

 

David Paul Baquirin

David received his BA in Neurobiology from UC Berkeley in 2016 and was a Study Coordinator at the Richards Lab for several years, including the Sleep Data Research Coordinator for the DDREAMS study. After the Richards Lab, David went on to a Study Coordinator position at University of California, San Francisco. 

 

Nadia Malek, BA

 Research Assistant

Nadia graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in Psychological Science and was a part-time Research Assistant for the Richards Lab. Nadia is also a Clinical Research Assistant at the Dissemination and Training Division of the National Center for PTSD. Her research interests include PTSD, sleep disturbances related to PTSD, and implementation science.

 

Aubrey Beck, BA, RN

Research Assistant

Aubrey received her B.A. in Psychology from UC Berkeley. Aubrey was a Research Assistant on the REST Study in the Richards Lab for several years. After her time with the Richards Lab, Aubrey moved on to graduate school at UC San Francisco's Nurse Practitioner program in their Psychiatric Mental Health specialty.
