The REST Study

Researching Effective Sleep Treatments

What is the study about?

This clinical trial is testing the effect of doxazosin, an FDA-approved medication, on symptoms of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder including distressing dreams. Participants will complete seven nights of home sleep monitoring and then receive doxazosin or matching placebo (sugar pill) for 8 weeks. During that time, participants will be closely monitored by the study physician or nurse practitioner.

Compensation for completing the study is up to $530.

How do I know if I qualify?

If you are a veteran between the ages of 18 and 75 with symptoms including upsetting dreams or sleep difficulties following a life threatening event, you may be a good candidate.  Please know that you may qualify even if you have never been diagnosed with PTSD.

How do I get started?

We will ask you some questions over the phone, and if you are a potential match for the study, we will invite you to participate in a confidential clinical interview.  Participants will be screened for eligibility and medical safety.
