The Richards Lab
Description

Mission

Affiliated with the University of California, San Francisco, and the Stress and Health Research Program at the San Francisco VA Medical Center, the lab of Anne Richards, M.D., M.P.H., conducts research on posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and sleep.  The fundamental mission of the Richards Lab is to advance treatment for veterans and other individuals suffering from stress-related sleep disturbances and mental illness.

Current research focuses on:

1) understanding sleep disturbance and the mechanistic role of sleep disturbance in the development and maintenance of PTSD and 2) translating evidence into effective psychopharmacological and therapy interventions for posttraumatic stress and related sleep disturbances.  Dr. Richards prioritizes the inclusion of female subjects in her research and the examination of sex differences in both translational and clinical studies.
